[Raffles Place] Get your individual pot at Fu Lin Men Dou Lao

Lead by Chef Nian as the consultant chef for Fu Lin Men Dou Lao. The Dou Lao cuisine is widely acknowledged as  the hot pots savored by the royals in modern China to improve one’s health and vitality. The decor of this 3-storey restaurants certainly depict the interior of modern China; palace doors decorated with bronze ornaments, chairs, and even traditional turn table in one of their private rooms.


Fu Lin Men Dou Lao serves the broth in single individual portion. It’s not everyday you’ll get to have your own hot pot in front of you, choosing the soup base and dishes that you’d like to eat.

To celebrate the official launch in 2016, Chef Nian has created 5 types of double-boiled elixirs based on the five elements of Feng Shui; Gold is represented by the imperial court golden broth, Wood is represented by the wild & cultured mushroom broth, Water is represented by the longevity tofu broth, Fire is represented by the sizzling chili brew, and Earth is represented by nourishing tomato brew.

Some highlights of the dishes are:

Fortune Chalice (S$38) consists of Premium Sea Cucumber, Abalone and Mushroom.

Family Bliss Freshly Handcrafted Dou Lao Meat Balls (S$7) consists of Prawn meat ball with golden roe, Beef meat ball with cheese, Squid meat ball with chocolate, Chicken meat ball, Pork meat ball with water chestnut & while black fungus, Seafood-meat ball with golden mushrooms and Squid-meat ball with Spinach.

Freshly Cultured Sea Prawns with Marbled Beef (S$18). Since we will celebrate the year of the monkey pretty soon, why don’t we just put a monkey figurine in the middle of the plate? And oh wait, there’s dry ice at the bottom of the plate creating smokey effect when you add water to it. It’s a pretty creative plating indeed.

Beer Marinated Marbled Beef (S$28). Right before boiling it in the hot pot, marinate the thinly sliced beef in the beer for a few minutes. This result is fragrant aroma when you bite the beef.

Fresh Beancurd Pockets with Fresh Seafood Paste (S$10). Oh wait, what is it that you see? It’s Buddha standing in the middle of the serving plate. Nice touch to the presentation!

Mushroom lovers, you gotta try the Bountiful Blessings of Three Treasures (S$28) consists of Morel, Matsutake & Lion’s Mane Mushroom.

House of Gold Pineapple Glutinous Rice (S$9). Sweet ending to your meal.
