Who would’ve thought that I’d find such a great meat buffet line at an affordable price? Located on the seventh floor of Park Hotel Alexandra, The Carvery is famous for its meat buffet offering high-quality roasts on its carving stations. Besides the carving stations, you can also enjoy an array of European style buffet and desserts.
For a whole month, from 28 September to 22 October 2016, The Carvery will serve prime cuts of beef from around the world. The buffet is priced at $78++ (Sunday – Thursday) and $88++ (Friday & Saturday).
The following cuts of roasted beef will be served (in rotation):
Aomori rice beef (Japan) – Striploin
20-month old cattle from Northern Japan that is fed whole rice plants and fresh spring water from Mount Hakkoda. Only available on Fridays and Saturdays.
Mayura Full-blood wagyu (Australia) – Oyster Blade
Full-blood refers to the cows where both breed are wagyu. The beef has a subtle nutty flavor as the cows are fed chocolate.
Cape Grim (Tasmania) – Tenderloin
Grass-fed and free-roaming cattle from Cape Grim which is “home to the cleanest air in the world”. Meat from these cattle is known to be high in beta carotene and antioxidants.
It is also free from any antibiotics, growth hormones and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO).
Zebu (Brazil) – Hump
Zebu cows are the only ones with a special hump that is famous in Brazil. The beef is marinated overnight and is roasted in a special cellophane paper for tender and soft cut of meat.
Black Angus (USA) – Prime Rib
We are all familiar with Black Angus. It’s grain-fed meat famous for its marbled flesh, which is tender and juicy.
New Zealand Beef (New Zealand) – Short Rib
High-quality and value-for-money are perhaps the two adjectives to describe this cut of meat. With dry herb rub, this piece of meat is aromatic and delicious.
Enjoy your meat on its own or with condiments such as truffle butter or truffle salt (highly recommended). Of if you prefer some sauce to go with it, you can choose between the veal jus or red wine sauce which is as delicious. The Yorkshire pudding is a must too!
For wine lovers, you can also pair the beef with a glass of wine. Six wines have been specially chosen (four reds and two whites) to pair with the meats, at special rates from $ 14++ per glass or from $68++ per bottle.
